Keswick Railway Path

Keswick & Borrowdale · Keswick to Threlkeld

An old railway trail through the River Greta gorge, normally graded ‘for all’. The written guide describes about 5km each way, but current bridge works mean this is not an unrestricted buggy recommendation.

Visitor viewChecked 30 August 2026: one temporary bridge footway has a maximum width of 75cm, with hand-clearance risks. A separate partial closure is scheduled from 7 September for eight weeks. Do not assume the full Keswick–Threlkeld route is open or suitable for your buggy. No toilets are provided along the trail.

Before bookingRead the live route notice immediately before travelling and use only the signed open sections. Keep dogs close around cyclists; never bypass barriers.

Policies, opening times and services can change. Confirm anything essential directly before making a special journey or booking.
